A mural depicting early road construction methods is Cortland’s contribution to the Illinois Lincoln Highway Scenic Byway mural program. There will be a dedication ceremony on Saturday May 29 at 1:00 pm and the public is invited.
The mural is located at 55 W. Lincoln Hwy. on the Cresswood Recycling Systems building on Lincoln Highway (IL 38) immediately west of the Kelley-Williamson mini-mart. The mural is the latest in 43 murals that will be displayed along the Lincoln Highway across Illinois. Read More...

Learn about the haunts going on in your own backyard! Get your tickets for the American Ghost Society Multi-Chapter Meeting at 2 p.m. this Saturday, May 29 at the Stratford Inn Hotel Chamber Room, 355 W. State St. in Sycamore.
The Haunted Stratford Inn Hotel was founded in 1926 on part of the original Ellwood mansion. This free meeting is open to the public and will include the haunted and historical background of the location as well as many locations across northern Illinois including such places as Galena, DeKalb’s Historic Egyptian Theater, and Tinker Swiss Cottage in Rockford. They will be meeting in the Chamber Room of the Stratford Inn Hotel. If you wish to attend the meeting, register everyone who will be coming with you by getting your free General Admission Ticket(s) on their website.
