Vet Fest at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport

This Saturday, July 31st, is the Vet Fest 2010 Picnic (rain or shine) from 11am until 6pm at the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. Three bands will be playing: Standing 8 Count, Dick and Rick from the Foot Stompers and Stroker Red.

Come out for the bands, food, beverages, kids activities and fun for all! Food included in pre-bought tickets. Tickets will be sold at the door, but food cannot be guaranteed for door-bought tickets. Hot dogs and hamburgers for kids. Anyone is welcome to Vet Fest, but please no pets. The cost is $10 per person, kids under 12 are free. There will be a chicken dinner for the first 300 tickets sold, under 10 yrs. get free hot dogs or hamburgers. To purchase tickets, please contact the American Legion, VFW, or AmVets. Kishwaukee Fest Parade Friday

Kishwaukee Fest presents The Lincoln Highway Pre-Parade Kruise Night and Community Parade this Friday, July 30th. Cars, Trucks and Hot Rods of all ages and vintages are invited to help kick off the “Lincoln Highway Parade” The cruise night will be before the parade along the parade route (see map). All Cars, Trucks and Hot Rods will start at the beginning of the parade route (Taylor Street & 7th Street) and cruise Lincoln Highway from 6:pm to 7:pm and will lead the parade units along the Parade route.

The Kishwaukee Fest Parade will kick off at Huntley Middle School at 7pm, go up 7th St. to Lincoln Hwy., travel West through downtown to 2nd St., and end at the Van Buer Parking Lot on Locust. According to their website, Kishwaukee Fest isĀ  “One of the greatest American traditions of all time; a hometown parade and this is one of the first events that the Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition is taking on a significant role. All Lincoln Highway communities in and along the corridor are invited.” The theme of the parade is Through the Years.
