This Saturday, June 23rd, from 9am-noon is the NITRO Trailblazers Races at the Sycamore Speedway. NITRO stands for Northern Illinois Trail Runners Organization. They are the biggest running club between Rockford and St. Charles. They represent around 100 members that like to run, race, and socialize together. NITRO welcomes all abilities, from beginner to advanced. Their mission as a club is to support the well being of themselves and others through running, community involvement, and charity.
Thanks to the generosity of the Sycamore Speedway, the sponsors, the volunteers, the participants, and the dedicated NITRO members, NITRO is able to host the fourth annual NITRO Trailblazer Races at the Sycamore Speedway. The proximity to the Great Western Trail combined with the historic atmosphere of the Speedway, make for an ideal location to start and finish a race.
There are two distances to choose from at the NITRO Trailblazer Races – 15 km and 5km. NITRO’s Walk to Run program will provide group training for the budding runner up to the 5 km distance. There are ample age groups and awards offered, cash prizes for top winners and even a 1/4 mile kid’s race. Enjoy a post race massage provided by Northern Rehab! This run will be raising money for Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois. For more information about the NITRO Trailblazer Run please visit their website.
