Winter 2013/14 brought extreme weather conditions. What exactly is the polar vortex? Should we expect highly erratic temperatures and winds as our planet experiences global climate change? NIU climatologist, David Changnon, Professor of Geography, will examine meteorological conditions, climatological anomalies, and regional impacts of severe weather conditions at this STEM Cafe event titled “Tumultuous Temperatures: Winter Bites Again” at O’Leary’s Restaurant & Pub this Wednesday, December 17th, 2014 from 6:30pm until 8:30pm.
STEM Cafés are fun, casual gatherings where adults can eat, drink, and chat with STEM professionals about the latest scientific research. All in the community are invited to this free and interesting event. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. O’Leary’s Restaurant & Pub is located at 260 E. Lincoln Hwy. in downtown DeKalb.
