Clinton Rosette and Huntley Middle School students have banded together in a vibrant cast of 50 to perform Shrek The Musical, JR. Comprised of magnetic characters ranging from Baby Ogre to the Wicked Witch, this performance will leave you wanting more from scene to scene. Featured in the production are Jim Small as Lord Farquaad, Tate Mangum as Donkey, Emma Carpenter as Fiona, and Jake Folowell as Shrek, leading a powerful cast in a show that comes alive before your eyes.
Performance times are scheduled for 7pm Friday May 15, 7pm Saturday May 16, and a Sunday Matinee at 2pm on May, 17. Ticket prices are $3.00 for children and $5.00 for adults. The show will take place at Huntley Middle School 1515 S. Fourth St. in DeKalb.
Adapted from the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig, these gifted actors will take you on an adventurous journey as Shrek the Ogre attempts to reclaim his swamp from a bunch of “freakish” creatures who were exiled from their homes by Lord Farquaad, a prince who prides himself on being a “stand-up” kind of guy. Accepting a deal from the Prince, Shrek embarks on his journey with a smarty-pants Donkey, to rescue fiery Princess Fiona from the Dragon’s realm—but will Lord Farquaad honor his word? And can Shrek, a large, smelly, green, and mean ogre, really be a hero? You will have to see the show to find out!
The student actors will dazzle you with their charm as they tell a story with a message—life lessons of acceptance, friendship, romance, and courage—all unraveled throughout the adventure. You will not want to miss the dancing and tapping rats in “Morning Person,” Pinocchio who is all engaging in demeanor and in voice, joined by the Fairytale Creatures who light up the stage in “Freak Flag;” the hysterical and dry-humored Farquaad who is bursting with wit; Donkey who is a spunky riot on stage; the lovely Fiona and her amazing singing voice, accompanied by her counterparts Young Fiona and Teenage Fiona: they will captivate you in “I Know It’s Today;” the revered ogre Shrek who commands every scene with his presence and authenticity, and much, much more! Directed by Mr. Gregor King, Choir director of Huntley and Clinton Rosette schools, you are guaranteed a smile and a laugh from start to finish and what’s best—the finale will give you chills!
