When the Affordable Care Act went into place last August, one of the sections of the act addressed “Comprehensive Coverage for Women’s Preventative Care.”   One of the eight new preventative services included in this section addressed breastfeeding coverage:

Breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling: Pregnant and postpartum women will have access to comprehensive lactation support and counseling from trained providers, as well as breastfeeding equipment. Breastfeeding is one of the most effective preventive measures mothers can take to protect their health and that of their children. One of the barriers for breastfeeding is the cost of purchasing or renting breast pumps and nursing related supplies.

So, what does that mean for you?  Well, as a result of this language, insurance companies are now required to cover some type of breastfeeding equipment (either manual or electric breast pump, typically) for mothers who wish to nurse their children.  While coverage levels and equipment types covered vary by insurance company, some type of equipment must be covered.  For some insurance plans “grandfathered in” under the previous regulations, this may mean only a manual breast pump is covered.  Other plans cover a portion or all of the purchase price of a top of the line double electric breast pump.

As an accredited durable medical equipment (DME) provider, Lehan Drugs is able to 1) find out the type of breast pump coverage under your health plan and 2) bill insurance on your behalf for coverage of a breast pump.

Your joints cushion you as you walk and allow you to change direction. Your SUV’s suspension system is similar: It bears the weight of your vehicle, absorbs bumps in the road and controls the body as you steer.

Like the bones in your body, SUV suspension parts are connected by joints that allow all the components to move as they should. Over time and miles, the joints start to wear and your suspension gets loose and doesn’t operate as precisely as before, reducing proper tire contact with the road. An accident, pothole or hitting a curb or rock can also damage or break SUV suspension components.

If you’ve ever hurt your foot, you know you’ve had to walk differently to keep it from hurting as bad. Do that long enough and your ankle, knee, hip and even your back will start to hurt from the strain of not moving normally. • Toilet leaks are major problems that go undetected, so we recommend dropping a “toilet dye” tablet in the toilet tank and closely monitoring the toilet bowl. If, without flushing, blue water appears in the bowl within half an hour, your toilet has a leak that needs to be repaired[5]
• Water heating alone can account for 14% – 25% of the energy consumption in a home.[6] Be sure to check your boiler regularly to make sure it’s clean and running efficiently. If you think you need to repair your boiler, call one our plumbers.

• Consider investing in a high-SEER air conditioning unit before this summer. The Federal government developed an ENERGY STAR program for high-efficiency central air conditioning systems that, in order to qualify, must have a SEER of at least 14. These units save energy and money, and allow buyers to claim a tax deduction on the purchase.[5]
