Situated beyond Chicago O’Hare’s Class B, DeKalb Taylor Airport (KDKB) provides a perfect Jet Blast location. Featuring a 7,000 ft main runway, a 4,000 ft crosswind runway, superior ground services, and miles of Class E and G airspace, DeKalb Taylor looks forward to hosting jet warbirds from throughout the northern Midwest.

The DeKalb County KEYS Initiative annual asset champions’ awards breakfast, to be held on May, 18, 2012, will honor the individuals and organizations whose ongoing commitment to building positive relationships with young people makes DeKalb county a better place for young people to live and grow.
The nominations for the 3rd annual Asset Champions Awards is open, and KEYS is seeking help from the public to celebrate DeKalb County’s amazing asset champions!
Asset champions are the people and organizations making extraordinary efforts to build developmental assets, create positive connections with young people and inspire others to do the same. All nominees and award recipients will be honored at the 2012 Asset Champions Awards Breakfast on May 18th.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Education: teacher, principal, support staff, cafeteria worker, custodian, crossing guard, school board member, etc.
Business: store clerk, business owner, workplace mentor, volunteer group, business that collaborates with schools, etc.
Civic: police officer, probation officer, judge, librarian, park district employee, mayor, city council person, etc.
Faith: church leader, youth program leader, Sunday school teacher, other program coordinator, etc.
Community: neighbor, community program volunteer, etc.
Organization: an organization that excels at delivering the asset message and building assets with the youth it serves
Youth: a young person that intentionally builds assets with other youth

The asset champions awards breakfast will be held at the Hopkins Park Community Center on May 18, 2012 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. This event is open to the public. Register by emailing Mary Hess, KEYS Asset Specialist at maryh@bengordoncenter.org. There is a $20 per person registration fee.

On Saturday, May 19th, 2012 the DeKalb (7am), Red Roof DeKalb (8am), Cortland (1pm), Sycamore (3pm) and Malta (4pm) storage facilities will be the sites of public auctions.
These auctions are the final step in a a long process through which they have tried to collect past due rent from their delinquent tenants. They undertake auction of a customer’s stored goods only as a last resort, and then only in scrupulous compliance with the self-service storage statute enacted by the Illinois Legislature.
The public is most welcome to attend to these auctions.
