Construction has slowed so those revenues are no longer pouring in. Next time? Let's demand a New Construction EAV Special Fund designation for property tax relief. Genoa Home and Business Expo this Saturday
This Saturday, March 13th, is the 2010 Genoa Home & Business Expo. From 10:00am-4:00pm at the Genoa-Kingston Middle School, tour the booths, try some food and register for great prizes!
There will be hourly Door Prizes at the Expo. Bring your kids to fill out an Expo 'bingo card' and they can win a prize, too! 3 Grand Prizes include: Tickets to a Cubs/Cardinals game, Chicago, July 25th-2 tickets with $100 Visa giftcard; an Apple iPod Touch, 32GB, 3G; and 4 tickets to The Dancing Horses Theatre at Delavan, WI, with $75 Visa giftcard.

IESA State Wrestling Meet at the Convocation Center
The DeKalb Area CVB, the Convocation Center, and our community welcomes back the IESA State Wrestling Meet to DeKalb, this weekend. The meet weigh-ins start at 1:30pm on March 12th. Tickets for the event are available at the Convocation Center ticket office. Doors open to the public at 2:30pm on Friday the 12th and at 8:00am on Saturday the 13th. The ticket office closes at 6:30 pm on Friday the 12th and at 6:00pm on Saturday the 13th. Tickets are $5 for students (K-8 and Seniors; 62 and up) and $10 for all others. Learn tips for the safe and successful hunting of the elusive morel mushroom. This telenet program will cover the various types of morels and aspects of their ecology, as well as taking a look at the false morels and how to identify them. Edibility and related consumption safety issues will be a primary focus, as well as tips for a safe and successful hunt.
If you are new to morel mushroom hunting and interested in learning the basics and are concerned about safety, this program is a good place to start, and it will also offer plenty of insight for the more experienced hunter as well. Presented via teleconference by a University of Illinois Extension horticulture expert. Teleconference involves PowerPoint slide presentations with speakerphone conference call hook-ups, allowing live discussion between the off-site expert instructors and gardeners throughout Illinois.
