Winter Farmers’ Market With Arts and Crafts

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb (UUFD) is hosting a Winter Farmers’ Market with arts and crafts at their church located at 158 North Fourth Street this Saturday, March 24th, from 9am to 3pm. This market will be great opportunity to support local farmers and artisans while buying healthy foods and craft items.

The market will include grass fed beef, free range chickens & eggs from the Hasselmann Farm just over the northern DeKalb county border. Also being offered is fresh herbs and fresh vegetables from the Erehwon Farm in Elburn. There will be over twenty vendors in total, some joining the market for the first time.

Come see the wares of several crafters including home spun yarn from DeKalb. Fresh baked French pastries and other goods will be available as well. Among the great craft choices too numerous to mention are handmade jewelry, knitted items, birdhouses, sun-catchers, goat soap, homespun yarn, weaving tools, wood-carving, and many other handmade items.

In addition to the great shopping opportunities there will also be live music all day and hot food all combining to create a festive and fun atmosphere. They will also have many new musicians playing at the market for the first time. In addition for the first time they will be having a licensed massage therapist on site given short shoulder and neck massages.

UUFD Winter Farmers’ Market With Crafts

Plan to stop in to the UUFD Winter Farmers’ Market With Crafts this Saturday, January 28th, between 9am and 3pm for a little bit of summertime fun. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb will be holding their 3rd annual Winter Farmers Market inside their church.

You’ll find grass fed beef, free range eggs and chickens, home-spun wool, goat soap, fresh vegetables & herbs, as well as over 20 arts & craft vendors at the Winter Farmers Market. Admission is $1. Enjoy live music and hot food all day.  Another market will be held on March 24th, 2012.

Shabbona Hometown Festival

The Shabbona Hometown Festival is a favorite among residents and visitors alike. Browse the tents and booths of local merchants for many types of arts and crafts. Carnival rides, moon walks, inflatable slides, magic shows, music and games of all sorts are sure to delight kids of all ages. Check out the petting zoo, which is sure to be a big hit. Several food vendors will have booths on-site with a variety of offerings. The Shabbona Hometown Festival lasts three days, Saturday July 2nd through Monday July 4th.

The Shabbona Main Street Parade will kick off at the Shabbona High School at 10am Saturday morning.  The parade captures the essence of both America’s freedom and small town rural living with proud participation from our local military heroes, American Legion, fire departments, farmers, and local clubs and businesses.

The Hometown Festival – Rides, Games, Inflatables, Vendors and fun for all ages will run from 10:30 – 3:30  on Saturday in Doc Purdy’s lot. At 1:30pm there will be an Ice Cream Eating Contest sponsored by Screamer’s Ice Cream. Kids Water Fights sponsored by Shabbona Fire Department begin at 2:30.

On Sunday, July 3rd there will be a Bags Tournament beginning at 1pm as well as the Fire Department Over-Head Adult Water Fights. From 10am – 4pm come check out the Screamer’s Car Show, located at Screamer’s Ice Cream & Restaurant.

Monday, July 4th kicks off with the Shabbona Fire Department’s pancake breakfast from 7am through 11am. The Lions Club pork chop dinner will be serving from 4:30-7pm. The Shabbona fireworks display begins at dusk at Shabbona Lake State Park and is sponsored by the Shabbona Fireworks NFP Committee.
