Genoa Home and Business Expo

North DeKalb County residents are in for a treat this Saturday at the 2012 Genoa Home and Business Expo.  Come learn about area businesses from Genoa, Hampshire, Kirkland, Monroe Center, Sycamore and DeKalb.  Approximately 50 area businesses have signed up to show you their goods and services.

Admission to the Expo is free. Enter to win raffle prizes including  the chamber raffle, which will give away a 50-inch plasma television, a Kindle Fire and a two-night stay at The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. There is no cost to enter the chamber raffle. Children can enter to win prizes by completing a free bingo card. Some vendors also plan raffles and giveaways at their booths. High school students and staff will provide concessions.

Chocolate Walk in Genoa

Genoa is celebrating Valentine’s Day early this year with their annual Chocolate Walk.  This Saturday, Feb 11th, be their guest for free chocolate treats of all sorts in businesses throughout downtown Genoa.

Genoa’s Quilt & Fiber Arts Walk this week

Downtown Genoa’s Quilt & Fiber Arts Walk is not just another quilt show. Join them this Wednesday through Sunday, January 25th – 29th, for over twenty different displays of quilts, baskets, needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, lace, tatting, quilling, sewing, felting and more throughout downtown Genoa. Displays, demonstrations, bed turnings, appraisals and all the rest will go on Wednesday-Thursday 10-4, Friday 10-8, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday Noon-4.

Genoa will be the place to be for free gifts, free ‘stop & swap’, free quilt squares, miniature quilt extravaganza, demos in basketry, quilling, spinning, natural dyes, tatting, certified quilt appraisals and bed turnings. Reserve a cozy fireplace for your group to work or chat today. There will be free demonstrations and workshops daily.

Bring the kids with on the weekend for hands on projects, demonstrations, contests, free lessons and special treats all around town. Genoa’s Ice Skating Rink Ready for Ice

Installation of the Community Ice Rink in Genoa by volunteers is complete. While today, it is not frozen, keep watching Genoa Main Street’s website for notice of the ice being ready and watch for flags flying at the rink letting you know it’s time to skate!

The rink is open to the public and located opposite the former City Hall at 113 N. Genoa Street.

The 10th Annual Genoa – Kingston area Christmas Craft Walk will go on this Thursday – Saturday, December 1 – 3rd, 2011. Drive to each unique location in the area and get all your holiday shopping done!  This event is hosted by Genoa Main Street.
