Canine Cupid Party


Love is in the air at Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor. Huckleberry’s All-Star Canines Holiday Show

Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor of Sycamore will bring All Star Canines to the Sycamore Public Library for a special holiday show this Tuesday, December 6th. The dogs, dressed in antlers, hats and bows, will perform a variety of tricks in the big meeting room. Dog owners and professional trainers will show off their dog’s cutest and best antics to entertain an audience of all ages.

Come watch the Huckleberry’s All Stars as they show off their Holiday Cheer by performing tricks like hanging ornaments on the tree, opening presents, reading letters from Santa to see who is naughty or nice.  Also, children in the crowd are invited to sing Christmas carols along with the dogs. A holiday event for all dog lovers to enjoy! Cost: Free; no preregistration required. Discover Sycamore’s 11th Annual Block Party

Are you ready to rock the block?  Get pumped for this year’s 11th Annual Discover Sycamore Block Party scheduled to take place this Saturday, September 17th from 3-11pm in downtown Sycamore. This free day of fun provides entertainment for the entire family including a kids’ parade, kids’ games, huge inflatable attractions for kids and adults, a DJ, contests, prizes, food from local vendors, a beer garden, live music from Red Woody and more.

The event kicks off with an All Star Kids’ Parade presented by NB&T starting at the Midwest Museum of Natural History, through downtown Sycamore, ending at the Block Party in the parking lot on the corner of Somonauk and Elm Street.  Be sure to sport your favorite team’s jersey.  The best dressed athlete will win a prize!

The fun continues from 3-6pm as parents, teens and young children can all enjoy some friendly competition in the All Star Game Area presented by NB&T.  Challenge your friends to a race to the finish line in the Inflatable Obstacle Course.   Participants race through several challenges and finish with a rock climb to the top and slide down to victory.  Or team-up to compete for 1st place in the Bags Tournament.  The entry fee is $20 per team before Friday, September 16th.   A registration form can be downloaded at www.DiscoverSycamore.com, or picked up at the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce office.  The entry fee for day of registration is $25 per team, and contestants must arrive and register before 3:30pm.

Back by popular demand is Bark on the Block- Sycamore’s Top Dog Competition presented by Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor.  Enter your gold-medal dog into the All Star K-9 Competition.  There will be four different sports contests just for man’s best friend: baseball, football, soccer and track and field.  Winners will be awarded fabulous prizes from Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor.  Register your four-legged friends at huckleberryspetparlor.com or call (815)899-3435.

At 6pm the Block Party DJ will keep the party going as families enjoy the food vendors and beer garden.  Then at 8:00pm get ready to get down with local favorite “Red Woody” as they rock the night away.

Bring your pooch to the Discover Sycamore Block Party

This Saturday, September 17th enter your dog into the Huckleberry’s All-Star Sports K-9 Competition at the Sycamore Block Party!  The contest will take place Saturday, September 17th at 4pm. Prizes will be awarded from Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor. Contestants must check in to the Huckleberry’s booth by 3:30pm. Come watch an Agility Course Demo by Tammie the Trainer at 3:30pm.

K9 Contests:
Baseball–How many baseballs can your dog catch?
Soccer–How many goals can your dog make?
Football–How fast can your dog run to make a 1st down?
Track & Field–How many hurdles can your dog jump?

Huckleberry’s DROP N SHOP Black Friday Event

Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor in Sycamore knows your dog would rather be running and playing with their friends while you shop those sales on the Friday after Thanksgiving. So DROP your dog off at Huckleberry’s and get out there and SHOP those sales! New dogs are welcome for this event. Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor has extended their daycare hours and will be open from 6am to 6pm on Friday, November 26th.

Huckleberry’s Welcomes New Dog Trainer

Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor in Sycamore welcomes pet trainer Christy Boecker to their facility. Christy Boecker is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a professional member the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (AABP) and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program. Using purely positive methods, you will find your pet responding with amazing results.  Aversive methods are proven ineffective for learning and changing behavior, Christy will show you how to be a positive role model for your pet while achieving desirable behavior from your pet using purely positive methods.

NEW CLASS STARTS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9th 7:00pm

Fun-damentals ~ come explore positive clicker training.  Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor will teach you how to phase out the lures and clicks & treats, so don’t be concerned your dog won’t listen unless you have a treat in your hand. Phased out properly your dog will comply consistently with your cues for years to come.  During class you will have many opportunities to “Proof” your training.  You will learn the basic cues.  Class size is limited to 15 teams.  Each class is 45-60 minutes in length.  Proof of vaccinations must be provided.  Each class is a 6 week session.
