shabbonaiceskating

Beginning Friday, January 18th, 2013 free ice skating is available from 8 AM – 5 PM on Shabbona Lake, sponsored by Pokanoka’s Restaurant. They have constructed a fire pit and have free wood available for the public to use. This is the first time that Shabbona Lake has offered ice skating on the lake.

An area next to Pokanoka’s Restaurant has been cordoned off with red traffic cones. The area is marked with signs indicating “Ice Skating At Your Own Risk”. You will need to bring your own skates as there are none available to use.

This is also the weekend of Shabbona Lake’s ‘On the Ice’ Catfish Ice Fishing Contest and Night Ice Fishing as DKO reported earlier in the week.

Pokanoka’s on Shabbona Lake will be open Saturdays and Sundays, 11 AM – 2 PM. For more info visit their web site at www.shabbonalake.com or call 815-824-2581.
