Tyler Hilton at the Egyptian Saturday

Tyler Hilton, singer, songwriter and actor, will appear this Saturday evening, May 12th, at the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb. Showtime starts at 7:30pm. Tyler Hilton has been a songwriter and musician for most of his life. After releasing a self-titled independent CD, he signed to Warner Bros. imprint Maverick Records, which released his major-label debut The Tracks of Tyler Hilton the same year that Hilton made his acting debut starring as the musically talented but totally arrogant Chris Keller on the second season of One Tree Hill. Other roles followed, including playing Elvis Presley in the critically acclaimed Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, co-starring in the indie film Charlie Bartlett with Robert Downey Jr., and returning to One Tree Hill for its final season in 2012.

O’Leary’s Ready for Big Weekend!

O’Leary’s Restaurant & Pub is geared up and ready for their favorite weekend! They are starting out this St. Patrick’s Day weekend with two live bands tonight, Friday, March 16th. Lovesick Anatomy starts at 9pm and Stroker Red starts at 10pm tonight. There is never a cover charge at O’Leary’s – just great music, great fun and an even greater restaurant!

O’Leary’s doors open for St. Patrick’s Day at 10am Saturday and stay open until 2am Sunday morning for the celebration! Of course they will be serving mouth watering corned beef and cabbage all day as well as the traditional green beer and Irish whiskey specials. The corned beef and cabbage buffet will be available on the second floor of O’Leary’s from 2pm-7pm. Large parties accepted on the 2nd floor for buffet only.

There will be t-shirts and St. Patty’s paraphernalia give aways while supplies last. Enjoy live music at O’Leary’s from 3-4:30pm and again from 6-7:30pm. Try your luck at the Bulls ticket raffle at 4pm, no purchase necessary. Enter in the Best Dressed Leprechaun Contest with a $100 prize at 7pm. Middlewest Fest This Weekend

Middlewest Fest is Northern Illinois’ annual celebration of the live music and arts, taking place throughout the weekend of September 9th & 10th in DeKalb. All Middlewest events are hosted at The Egyptian Theatre, Ottos Nightclub, The House Cafe, The Van Buer Plaza, O’Leary’s Irish Pub, Tapalaluna, Hometown Sports Bar & SMLTWN Skate Shop as well as various art spaces, halls and local business in historic downtown DeKalb, just a stones throw away from Northern Illinois University.

Middlewest is not a genre-specific festival. Variety is the spice of life, is it not? Well, that variety is the is the central ingredient to the feast of the senses that shall be Middlewest! You may find a singer-songwriter plucking away at his acoustic guitar in a tiny corner bistro, a boisterous heavy metal band playing a rock club down the street while the art gallery next door hosts an independent film viewing. Middlewest is the convergence of the local music and art communities and a celebration of the vibrant culture of the Northern, Illinois area.

New to this years Middlewest, The Van Buer Plaza will serve as the mainstage for the fest. Best of all the stage is located outdoors, in the lovely Van Buer Plaza (directly across the street from The Egyptian Theatre). The Plaza will serve host to not only a live music but the Middlewest Arts & Crafts Market and the Huskies SEE DeKalb event on Friday Sept. 9th!

Malta Days Festival this weekend!

Small town fun doesn’t get much better than the Malta Days Festival. This weekend, June 10th -12th, Malta will host three fun-filled days with a carnival, live music, car show, parade, 5k walk/race, fireworks and so much more!

Get your Carnival Wristbands on sale in advance at Resource Bank for only $15 each through Thursday, June 9th. Friday opens up the weekend with the carnival, food booths, beer garden, crafters/business booths and the band Shuvlhed will play from 7-11pm.

Saturday is an exciting day with a car show, 5-K Tractor Trot walk/run, Bassmeister Comedy Fishing Program, lots of food, J.P. & The Cats from 4:30-7:30pm, Brian Lavender & Whiskey Bent playing live from 8pm-12am. Malta will have it’s Fireworks show at 9pm on Saturday.

Sunday is the Carnival Wristband Day. They will host a Community Church Service under the Big Tent at Lions Park at 9am. Malta’s Parade will take place at 11am on Sunday. Band of Brothers will rock with the oldies on the sound stage from 2pm-6pm on Sunday.

Mercury Rising Live at Starbusters

Starbusters Sports Bar and Nightclub will host the DeKalb High School class of 1985 tonight, Friday, July 9th, with the band Mercury Rising, live on stage. Mercury Rising is a band that is heating things up all over Chicagoland. The band’s tastes are eclectic, combining a mix of rock, pop and blues (from the 60′s through today) to produce an energetic live show that gets the crowd up and on their feet.
