This Friday, June 8th through Monday, June 11th is Free Fishing Weekend at Shabbona Lake State Park. There is no fishing license required this weekend so bring the family for a nice time by the water.  Get two free bait items with any all day boat rental reservation at Shabbona’s Lakeside.

Saturday is also Shabbona Lake’s 4th Annual Bass Open, sponsored by Cabela’s Outdoors of Hoffman Estates. The heaviest three bass will win a gift card from Cabela’s Outdoors. Pokanoka’s Café will have its famous dollar days as well. Bass fishing has been phenominal at Shabbona Lake this year. The bass are done spawning and are up shallow in the weeds and along the shorelines. They are hungry and aggressive.
