writeinQuestions have been surfacing from candidates, media, and the public regarding the tabulation and display of the unofficial results regarding the write-in candidates for the 2013 Consolidated Elections.

Write-In Candidate results are not able to be published online.

Interested parties are encouraged to have a representative on site at the County Clerk & Recorder’s, Office, (110 East Sycamore St., Sycamore, IL 60178), on Election Night to review the tabulated write-in results from Election Day.

Please note, this write-in total will not include results from all pre-Election Day voting. Those write-in results will be delayed and the final unofficial results will be published prior to Friday, April 12, 2013 to allow for manual tabulation.

All other results, including pre-Election Day Voting will be tabulated and displayed online at the conclusion of Election Day as normal. (Additionally, the outstanding ‘by mail’ ballots and provisional ballots could also delay the final unofficial and official results of contested write-in races).

January 19, 2012 – Last Day to Declare as a Write In

The DeKalb County Clerks office is reminding citizens that January 19th is the last day to declare as a write-in candidate for the upcoming primary election on March 20th, 2012. Pursuant to 10 ILCS 5/7-59(b), Thursday, January, 19, 2012 is the last day candidates interested in seeking nomination on an established party’s ballot can declare their intention to be a write in candidate.

Candidates wishing to declare as a write in should contact the DeKalb County Elections Office at 815.895.7147 , visit the Office at 110 East Sycamore St., Sycamore, IL 60178, or download the form at www.dekalbclerk.com.

Write-In Candidate Declaration Deadline

Individuals wishing to submit a declaration to be considered a “Write-In” candidate  for the April 5, 2011 Consolidated Election, must do so prior to the February 3, 2011 deadline.   Write-in candidates must register with the County Clerk’s office in order to have their name counted as an official candidate for the office for which they seek.

Interested persons may procure the declaration paperwork from the DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder’s office, (110 E. Sycamore St., Sycamore, IL 60178), Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, before the deadline.
