DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport will hold the 1st Annual Biplane & Antique/Classic Fly-In & Drive-In from Wednesday, June 2nd through Sunday, June 6th. WWII-era biplanes and Stearman aircrafts are available for the public to see up close, take rides in, and even co-pilot. Get an up-close viewing of the World War II 1930 New Standard D-25 biplane, a PT-17 Boeing Stearman and other antique aircraft from 8am to 5pm Friday and Saturday, when visitors will have a chance to meet the pilots.
Airport visitors can take to the skies in some of the antique biplanes. The American Barnstormers Flying Circus will offer commercial pilots who will provide flights in vintage biplanes, such as the 1929 White New Standard D-25A biplane, which holds up to four passengers with the pilot – perfect for a family adventure. The cost is $60 for four passengers of any age. Flights will be offered daily this week, weather permitting, from 1 to 6pm Wednesday and from 10am to 6pm Thursday-Sunday. The DeKalb Aviation/Fly America and Midwest Flight Academy will offer an introductory aviation lesson for $45 for 20 minutes from a certified pilot.
A Fly-In/Drive-In Market will be held Saturday and Sunday. There will be Flour Bombing Contests, Daily Fly-outs and Vendors and Refreshments. On Sunday, a Pancake Breakfast will be sponsored by the local EAA Chapter from 7am-1pm. The public is invited to all events.
