This isn’t your everyday rodeo! The RAMP Wheel-A-Thon has become a tradition that takes an ordinary event (like a walk-a-thon) and introduces a disability awareness aspect by focusing on the abilities of people using a wheelchair. The DeKalb County RAMP Wheel-A-Thon will be this Saturday, September 18th and will take place at the RAMP office at 115 N. First St. in DeKalb. Registration begins at 11am.
This year, cowboys and cowgirls will ride off on a two mile course, using a wheelchair to navigate the DeKalb County range. They will encounter outlaws as they face curbs, uneven sidewalks, and probably some tired arms, however; in the end they will gain a greater appreciation for the every day obstacles people with disabilities may face.
