Thinking about trying your hand at Cowboy Mounted Shooting? It’s one of the nation’s fastest growing equine sports and we have a local group right here in Malta, Il. called The Northern Illinois Outlaws. They are a new Cowboy Mounted shooting club in the area, and are affiliated with the Cowboy Mounted Shooting association and follow all CMSA rules and guidelines. Mounted contestants compete in this fast action timed event using two .45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition.
It doesn’t matter if your an old pro or a greenhorn who just wants to get started. You’ll find the outlaws to be the friendliest group of people you will ever meet. They believe that everyone should have fun and enjoy themselves while participating in this sport. Safety is their number one concern. These outlaws are good people with common sense and are here to help you learn the sport and to have a great time.
The Northern Illinois Outlaws will be hosting the 7th Annual National Day of the Cowboy on July 23rd and 24th at Amber Sun Acres, their home in Malta, Il. Shooting competition (4 Stage Pistol and 2 Stage Rifle) starts at 11am Saturday and at 10am on Sunday. There will be local vendors, a Fast Draw Challenge, Native American Dancers and lots of food available on the grounds.
NIO currently hosts over 20 events each season with upwards of 25 riders at each event. They always welcome new riders and host several new shooters clinics to allow the new comers a chance to get acquainted with this exciting sport. Currently their club has a broad range of riders so there is plenty of fun and competition in each CMSA level. For more information about the Northern Illinois Outlaws please visit their website.
