Roll on the wild side for RAMP on Saturday, September 22nd at the 12th Annual DeKalb County Wheel-A-Thon. Whether you want to walk, skate, wheel, scoot, run, stroll or bike…or decorate and as a team use a wheelchair to see what it is like to navigate your community on a 2 mile course through DeKalb. RAMP’s DeKalb County Wheel-A-Thon will be held this Saturday, September 22nd, in the Van Buer Plaza on the corner of N. 2nd and Locust Streets in DeKalb.
The Wheel-A-Thon is a disability awareness event tht works much like a typical walk-a-thon, where participants gather donations and complete a challenging course where they can walk, skate, wheel, scoot, run, stroll or bike through DeKalb. Wheelcharis are provided for teams to decorate and take turns on the route. Registration begins at 9am, the Wheel-A-Thon is at 10am with lunch and awards to follow.
This is a fun, family friendly event. Local companies and organizxations are encouranged to gather friends, family and co-workers to form a team. All participants who raise a minimun of $50 will receive an event t-shirt. Those who raise additional funds will receive incentives from area businesses. Proceeds from the Wheel-A-Thon benefit RAMPS’s DeKalb County Services to people with disabilities provided out of the DeKalb office.
RAMP stands for Regional Access Mobilization Project and promotes an accessible society which allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities.
