The City of DeKalb Council Chambers in City Hall will be the site of a Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, March 20 hosted by the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. The DeKalb City Hall Council Chambers are on the second floor of 200 S. Fourth Street in DeKalb, accessible by an elevator. Audience members may submit questions at the door. Audience members wishing to submit questions should plan to arrive no later than 6:20 p.m.
The Candidates’ Night will be broadcast live on television, on the public access Channel 14 viewable in the DeKalb area. There will also be live video streaming on the Internet on the City of DeKalb’s Website. Candidates for Kishwaukee College Trustee; DeKalb County Regional Board of Education Trustee, DeKalb Township offices; DeKalb School District #428 Board; DeKalb Park District; and City of DeKalb mayor, aldermen, and clerk received invitations to speak.
All are welcome to attend. Those wishing to submit questions for candidates can increase their chances of their questions being chosen by keeping the questions short enough to fit on a 3 x 5 card and writing legibly. Audience members should also write questions that all candidates can answer, not questions that are directed only at one candidate personally. The League will provide other tips on how to write good questions for candidates at the door. Citizens who will watch at home or on the Internet can submit questions via e-mail by midnight on March 18 at: leagueofdekalbcounty@gmail.com.
