Safe Sitter Basic

This internationally recognized babysitting program teaches 11 – 13 year olds the skills to provide children in their care a safe, nurturing environment. Includes Safe Sitter backpack, manual, supplies and light refreshments. Safe Sitter Basic is July 15, from 8:30 am – 3 pm at Kish Hospital Roberts Conference Center. $40/person. Do You Have Neck & Arm Pain? with Dr. Hwang

Orthopedic Surgeon and KishHealth Spine Center Medical Director, Raymond Hwang, MD, talks about neck related symptoms associated with degenerative spin. He also discusses nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for neck and arm pain. AARP Drivers Safety Course

This two-session class, for people age 50 and above, features the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher for mature drivers. The class includes workbook assignments, video instruction and class lectures. There is no driving test. Participants receive a certificate of completion for auto insurance discount. $12/AARP members; $14/non-AARP members. Registration is required for this program and closes three days before the program date. A minimum number of participants are also required. Heart Disease: The Difference Between Women & Men with Dr. Nguyen

Heart disease has gender unique symptoms and risks.  Prepared Childbirth Education

This class includes information on pregnancy, labor, delivery, newborn care and post-partum period. Please bring 2 – 3 pillows to class. Instructed by certified childbirth educator, the class is $20 per couple.  The class is Tuesdays, July 9 – 30, from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. General Cancer Support Group

The general cancer support group is open to anyone impacted by the disease of cancer.  This monthly group provides an opportunity to learn more about cancer from fellow patients, caregivers and trained staff in a safe and encouraging environment. The group is open to patients, caregivers and community members. The group meets on July 10, and the second Wednesday of every month, from 8:30 – 9:30 am, at the Valley West Cancer Center, 15 W. Know Your Numbers Personal Appointments

KishHealth System enhanced the format of Know Your Numbers to be more focused on you through individual appointments. Individual appointments available July 9 & 25, from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. Knowing and understanding your numbers is a component vital to good health. Heart disease and other health issues can be predicted using this information. Join us to learn your numbers and how to decrease your personal risk for disease. Individual appointments include screenings for cholesterol and blood sugar levels, blood pressure, body mass index, waist measurement and education with wellness educator. Blood Pressure Clinic

Valley West nurse volunteers offer free weekly blood pressure checks at Valley West Community Hospital every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Just walk in, no registration is required.
