Special holiday tours of DeKalb’s historic Ellwood House begin this Saturday, November 16th, 2013 and continue through November 30th. Open for custom tours of the decorated mansion throughout the week and a special weekend open house on December 6th-8th. Experience this beautiful home decorated for the season.
Start your holiday season by taking a guided tour of the decorated Ellwood House mansion. Local businesses, decorators, college groups, and clubs help to present the home in a new, elegant way each year. This is the place to get ideas for your own decorating or view what times were like while the Ellwoods inhabited the opulent home.
Tour times are Tuesdays through Fridays at 1pm and 3pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm. Tours begin in the Visitor Center. The Ellwood House is located at 509 N. 1st St. in DeKalb.
On December 6th – 8th the Ellwood House Museum presents the 3-day Holiday Open House (hours listed below). Tour guides will be stationed in twelve locations throughout the festive four floors of the mansion to share information about the architecture and the Ellwood family. Closed Mondays and Thanksgiving. Please book your holiday tour in advance by calling (815)756-4609. Tickets $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Visit the Ellwood House online now to learn more.
