Code Enforcement Outsourced in DeKalb

Any day now the City of DeKalb will let the public know they have made major changes in their code enforcement department. Those jobs have allegedly been terminated and the services provided by that department have been outsourced. People calling in for permits have been told service has been interrupted for maybe a week. Some are caught in the middle of jobs and the delay in permitting has impact.

Here is the copy of a Freedom of Information Act request sent yesterday. There has been no acknowledgement of receipt.

Emailed to Diane Wright, City of DeKalb:

Dear Records Request Officer:

Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, I request access to and copies of 1) any separation contracts between the City of DeKalb and any members of the Code Enforcement department who were terminated from employment with the City. 2) any contract between the City of DeKalb and any 3rd party contracted to perform the services of the Code Enforcement department. 3) Agendas and minutes of any meeting where the topic of outsourcing the duties of the Code Enforcement department was discussed and/or approved.

If these records exist in digital form I request they be delivered in digital form. As this is an item of public interest I hereby request all fees to be waived.

If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.

Thank you for your assistance.
