DeKalb Man Found Dead, Another Arrested


On Wednesday April 30th, 2014 at approximately 5:30pm, the DeKalb Police Department responded to an area adjacent to 801 N. First St. to check the well-being of a male subject lying next to a fence.  The subject was found to be unresponsive with no pulse.  Members of the DeKalb Fire Department began CPR efforts, and transported the subject to Kishwaukee Community Hospital.  The subject identified as David Pierce of DeKalb County, IL was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The scene in which Pierce was located was secured and processed for evidence.  Items of drug paraphernalia were located at the scene.  The Dekalb Police Department is currently investigating if drugs were a contributing factor to Pierce’s death.  Autopsy results are pending.

On May 1st, 2014 at approximately 12:45pm, the DeKalb Police Department made contact with Anthony McClain during a separate narcotics investigation.  This contact led to McClain’s arrest for Unlawful Delivery of Controlled Substances-Heroin, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substances-Heroin.  McClain was also wanted on several outstanding warrants.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding David Pierce’s death is ongoing.

McClain was transported to the DeKalb County Jail to await a bond hearing.
