Did you catch Bettie Fever at their first home bout? Want to put on some skates and join them? Here’s your chance! The Barbed Wire Betties are hosting a Derby 101 Boot Camp this Wednesday, November 19th, 2014. This is where you can learn all about what it means to play roller derby and get all the information you need on their upcoming Fresh Meat class starting on December 3rd!
OPEN TO: Female-identified people ages 18 and up can be skaters (full-contact). Male- and female-identified people ages 18 and up can be referees (non-contact). No skating experience required!
The Boot Camp will be held this Wednesday, November 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Please be ready to start at 6pm sharp! Boot Camp will be held at the Kishwaukee YMCA, 2500 Bethany Road in DeKalb.
WEAR & BRING: Workout clothes, something you feel comfortable bending, twisting, and sweating in. Running or training shoes. If you have skates (quads preferred, inline are okay for Derby 101), knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, a mouthguard and a helmet — bring them! If you don’t have gear, no problem. They have some loaner gear, or you can participate in your shoes.
If you want to learn this amazing game, they will teach you. You don’t need experience, just enthusiasm!
