As the curtain opens, the Christmas Fairy waves her magic wand that causes magical visions to appear that tell the story of young Clara receiving a toy soldier Nutcracker at her family’s Christmas Eve party, Later, the Nutcracker comes to life, defeats the Rat King, and turns into a Prince. He escorts her on a wondrous journey through the Land of the Sweets. They meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and others who entertain her with delightful dances.
Fowler’s staging of the bright, colorful, fun party scene has been delighting and captivating audiences for over two decades with life size dolls that come to life as they emerge from large gift boxes, a magical growing Christmas tree, falling snow, and a lighted swan sleigh that takes Clara on her magical journey.
