Strong Armed Robbery in DeKalb Wednesday evening


[NIU Safety Bulletin] On Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at approximately 7:53 PM, NIU Police were advised of a strong armed robbery that occurred at 820 N. Annie Glidden Road. The victim reported to police that she was returning to her vehicle after a delivery of food at 820 N. Annie Glidden Road when she observed an unidentified individual going through her vehicle. When the suspect observed the victim returning to the vehicle, the suspect exited the vehicle and grabbed an envelope containing cash from the victim’s jacket. The suspect ripped the victim’s jacket upon grabbing the envelope. The suspect immediately fled the area on foot towards the back of 820 N. Annie Glidden Road apartments.

The victim was not injured in the incident. Police continue to investigate the incident, and the suspect remains at large.

The victim described the suspect as male Caucasian with hair past his ears in a bowl cut, approximately 6-0 to 6-2 tall, medium build, wearing a black puffy jacket with light colored stripes.

Police are providing additional foot patrols in the area of the incident. Police ask that the community be aware and report any suspicious behavior directly to the NIU Police at 815-753-1212, DeKalb Police at (815) 748-8400 or anonymously at 815-753-TIPS (8477).


  1. Well lucky this isn’t some kind of crime wave, whenever there is a population as large as dekalbs there’s bound to be some criminals in the mix. I just hope that if he’s caught our states attorney will actually do something instead of plea bargain him out

  2. So maybe this habit of leaving your car unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition will stop?. Did you also know that when you do this your insurance is invalid?, if anything happens to your car while you leave it unattended, unlocked and the keys in the ignition your screwed.
