Buying from your local farmer allows you to support local agriculture. This means that the food you are eating comes from nearby, and does not require us to waste lots of energy and petroleum to ship the food halfway around the world. You are eating food in your own environment, where it has perfectly-created nutrients for your specific climate and region. You are also supporting the environment by reducing the usage of fossil fuels.

Wouldn’t you rather stroll amidst outdoor stalls of fresh produce on a sunny day than roll your cart around a grocery store with artificial lights and piped in music? Coming to the farmers market makes shopping a pleasure rather than a chore. The farmers market is a community hub—a place to meet up with your friends, bring your children, or just get a taste of small-town life in Genoa.

The Naturally Genoa Farmer’s Market is open for the first time in 2015 this coming Saturday, May 30th. It is designed to support our local farmers while providing fresh and homegrown items to our community. Be sure to come out to Genoa’s 5 markets this summer for a unique and fun family day in Genoa.

Market Times: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Market Dates: 5/30, 6/27, 7/25, 8/29, 9/26
Location: City Parking Lot (Corner of Rt 72 & S. Genoa St.)

The Naturally Genoa Farmer’s Market is still looking for vendors, artists and musicians to be a part of the market. If you are interested please call the Chamber office, 815.784.2212.
