Youth Service Bureau looking for foster families for temporary, emergency housing

runawayThe DeKalb County Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is in need of families willing to become a licensed foster home in order to provide temporary housing to youth aged 11-17 who are involved in the Crisis Intervention program.

Through this program, YSB provides immediate intervention 24 hours a day, as well as follow-up counseling, when a youth is refusing to return home, has run away from home, or when the parent or guardian has locked-out the youth. Referrals for this program generally come from schools or police stations in DeKalb County when families are unable to reach a solution in which everyone feels safe and understood. The goal for services is to keep families together and to prevent DCFS and/or court involvement.

At times, these families need a place for the youth to spend the night, but there are no other family members or friends that can accommodate. Foster families licensed by YSB would only be contacted by YSB in these situations.
