Corn Classic PosterGet in on this year’s DeKalb Corn Classic 10K and 3K during Corn Fest this Saturday, August 27th, 2016. Since its inception in 1981, the Corn Fest 10 km Race event has grown to include a 3 km Run/Walk. The addition of this event has made the DeKalb Corn Fest Races a true “family affair”.  Three generations are seen participating in this out and back course through the local neighborhood. Parents pushing babies in strollers, the family dog in tow, children on roller blades, tricycles and bicycles, and elderly couples strolling arm in arm have all comprised the field for this event. Since this is a “fun” event, official times are not published, but times are displayed on the race clock for participants to view as they cross the finish line.

Early packet pickup and registration will occur in the Huntley Middle School gymnasium on August 26th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Late registration fees apply. Race day packet pickup and registration will occur in the Huntley Middle School gymnasium, from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. on race day. Late registration fees apply. See links below for more registration information.

The USATF Certified 10 km course winds through the southwesterly residential areas and parks of the City of DeKalb. The course entails several short hills yet overall is considered flat and fast. The DeKalb Corn Classic 10 km is a CARA Certified Race and proud to remain on the racing circuits of the Starved Rock Runners, Ltd. (SRRL) and the Northern Illinois Trail Runners Organization (NITRO) running clubs. The planning and implementation of this fitness-oriented event occurs through the dedicated efforts of a volunteer committee. New this Year will be Finisher Medals and Post Race Celebration sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company and Fatty’s.
