Over the weekend the City of DeKalb’s Public Works Department received notification that Homefield Energy, the City’s electrical aggregate supplier, incorrectly billed DeKalb residents for the months of July and August.
According to the contract between Homefield Energy and DeKalb residents that participate in the City of DeKalb Opt-Out Aggregation Program, rates were to drop from .07237/kWh to .06307/kWh beginning in July 2016. Unfortunately, Homefield Energy’s billing software did not properly update the new billing rate. Homefield Energy has acknowledged the error and is working on an efficient solution to either refund or issue credits on all affected accounts.
The City is happy to serve its residents and encourages citizens to report any future concerns regarding utilities. A watchful citizentry is essential to an efficient well- informed municipality.
