Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) is hosting an Orientation for high school students interested in joining. New and returning members should attend YEP Orientation this Sunday, September 18, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore. An RSVP e-mail to Noah Nordbrock, firstname.lastname@example.org, is required to attend. Please RSVP by September 13.
Orientation is the first official meeting of the YEP program and is required for new and returning members. Youth will gain first-hand knowledge of nonprofits in DeKalb County and learn more about YEP’s grant making. An information session will start at 2:00 p.m. for both youth and parents. Attendees will participate in a fun filled, community-wide nonprofit scavenger hunt at 2:30 p.m.
“YEP Orientation is always fun and is a great chance to meet new people from different schools,” said current YEP Chair Izzy Hayes. “It helps to clear up what the YEP program is all about and why it’s so important to get involved.”
The Youth Engaged in Philanthropy program is intended for high school age students who live in DeKalb County or who attend a high school in DeKalb County. After Orientation, members attend monthly youth led meetings to build leadership skills, learn about nonprofits in DeKalb County, and become life-long philanthropists. In the April 2017 meeting, YEP members will use their new knowledge to grant approximately $10,000 to local organizations serving youth.
For additional information or to RSVP for Orientation, please contact Donor Services & Marketing Director Noah Nordbrock, 815-748-5383, or email@example.com.
