In a study commissioned by the City of DeKalb, the Sixel Consulting Group made several recommendations to ensure the Airport remains a vital piece of the regional economic infrastructure. The study confirmed the Airport’s proximity as instrumental to companies such as Target, 3M, Nestle, and Johnson Controls in making their decision to operate in the DeKalb region. In an 8 – 0 vote, Mayor Rey and City Council voted yes to Sixel’s recommendation to amend Chapter 45 of the Municipal Code. The amended chapter restructures the advisory board into a business-oriented board, focused on furthering the airport as a regional asset.
