Kishwaukee College Continuing Education is offering a Personal Fitness Trainer program on Saturdays, January 21 through February 25, from 9:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. The five-week course costs $761. The Personal Fitness Trainer course is designed to prepare students to work successfully in the fitness field. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the Personal Training field is expected to grow 7% through 2024. Personal trainers work primarily in fitness centers, gyms, hospitals, universities, yoga and Pilates studios, and clients’ homes.
Lecture topics in the Personal Fitness Trainer program include: anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and health screening. In addition to lecture, the class includes fifteen hours of “hands-on” practical training which helps prepare students to work with clients one-on- one. The World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.) national exam is administered on the sixth week. Upon successful completion of the class and written exam, a list of approved internship sites will be provided by W.I.T.S. Once the student provides proof of completing the required 30-hour internship and CPR certification, they will receive a Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate from W.I.T.S.
