My name is Lisa Hepker and it is with great enthusiasm that I respectfully announce my candidacy for the position of Sycamore City Clerk.
My husband, David, and I reside in Sycamore with our Yorkshire terrier, Buster. I grew up in a small town similar to Sycamore where people enjoy their Friday night football games, festivals, parades, and share that same small town pride along with a great sense of community. In my spare time, David and I enjoy taking Buster for walks, riding bikes, canoeing, and most of all, gardening!
My interest in serving as the Sycamore City Clerk stems from my passion of working with people of all ages and backgrounds and the opportunity to give back and to work in the community where I live. If elected, I will continue to support the City Clerk’s office so that it run as effectively and efficiently as possible, along with incorporating new and innovative ways. I will build upon the contributions of the current and outgoing City Clerk and add my experience and support to those I serve, while bringing a fresh, energetic perspective to the role.
I earned my bachelor of science in elementary education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and my master’s degree in technology from National-Louis University, in Illinois. I moved to Sycamore in 2003 and I currently work for University of Illinois Extension. At the University, I have worked as a Program Coordinator and presently as a Youth Development Educator serving DeKalb, Boone, and Ogle counties.
Kevin R. Braden has accepted my invitation to serve as my Campaign Manager. He has worked on and/or managed a large number of successful campaigns over the years on the local, state, and national levels. Currently we are working to develop our campaign strategy and materials.
I hope you will join me at my Campaign Fundraiser at the Sycamore Vets on Thursday, January 26, 2016 from 4:30 – 8:00 pm. The club is located at 121 S. California Street. Appetizers, desserts, soft drinks, and coffee will be provided along with a cash bar. It’s a, “come as you are” event so we hope that you can come visit for as little or as long as your schedule allows. Suggested donation for the event is $10/person.
I hope you share in the excitement for this new opportunity for me and my family. If you would allow me to put a sign in your yard, list your name on my endorsements page, or want to be a part of “Team Hepker”, please don’t hesitate to contact me at my campaign e-mail address HepkerForClerk@gmail.com
If elected, I will serve the citizens of Sycamore with dependability, integrity, and distinction.
Thank you for your consideration and I would be honored to have your vote.
