On Wednesday, April 19th, 2017, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the DeKalb Police Department received a 911 call of a subject armed with a handgun at an apartment located in the 800 block of Edgebrook Dr. The victim told officers he invited a suspect into his apartment. Upon coming inside, the suspect implied a handgun and demanded money from him. The victim and roommates fled to the second floor of the apartment to safety. As they did this, the suspect left the scene without the victims’ property. The suspect was not located. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Through investigation, it was learned the suspect was at the victims’ apartment over a drug transaction. Evidence obtained by investigators aided in the identification of the suspect, Rickey Harmon, 40 years of age, of DeKalb.
On Thursday, April 20th, 2017, Harmon was located while walking in the 800 block of Crane Drive. Harmon was transported to the DeKalb Police Department where he was interviewed. Further evidence was obtained against Harmon which led to State’s Attorney approval of charges for Attempt Aggravated Robbery, Class 2 Felony. Harmon was processed, and transported to the DeKalb County Jail to await a bond hearing.
