WATERMAN ENHANCEMENT GROUP VISION CONTINUES…
Waterman residents can be watching for phase three of the Waterman Enhancement Group’s (WEG) green space project to begin taking shape this summer. Through the collaborated efforts of the five person team, DeKalb County Community Foundation, Waterman Lion’s Club, scouts and local volunteers, progress can be expected to be seen at Muingan Park (named by one of the town’s Middle school students).
DCCF awarded WEG a $5000.00 grant to begin the natural play fort slated at Muingan Park.
The play fort and pavilion completion will depend largely on more funding and volunteerism. WEG currently has several foundation grant requests out for consideration. They have work diligently to keep this going forward to completion.
The group’s accomplishments thus far include: a mulch trail in the wooded area, a quarter mile ag path, development of a butterfly garden, many trees and shrubs, 6 benches and concrete pads, and a partially completed kiosk for signage and community events.
Much work is still needed to bring this vision together. WEG will be asking for community support financially as well as volunteer efforts. The community can do this together.
If you and your group or business would like to help, please contact Peggy Rogers at plrogers50@yahoo.com or LIKE them on facebook. Visit30 will also have updates and information as the project progresses.
