On Monday, August 7th , 2017, at approximately 12:45 pm, an adult female was walking south in the 100 block of South 7th Street in DeKalb when she was attacked from behind. An unknown male grabbed the victim in a sexually explicit manner. The male then fled on foot west bound, the victim did not sustain any injuries that required medical attention. The DeKalb Police Department and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area which included a police canine team. The suspect was not apprehended and has not been identified at this time.
The victim described the offender as a male African American, approximately 18 to 26
years old, 5’8” tall, slim build with a short haircut, and wearing a white t-shirt and khaki
This suspect may be linked to other offenses in the central business district and we encourage our community to call the police to report any suspicious activity or crimes in progress immediately. The DeKalb Police are investigating a battery that just occurred at 7th St & Lincoln Hwy, no weapon was displayed. Suspect is described as a male black, wearing tan shorts, no shirt, no shoes. Suspect was last seen running in the area. This was an unprovoked attacked of a female who was on foot in the area.
