The DeKalb County Community Action Department and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announce the 2018 Community Services Block Grant college scholarship program.
To be eligible to apply the applicant must be a permanent DeKalb County resident, be a member of a family whose gross income from the past 90 days does not exceed 125% of the poverty level and be enrolled or accepted at an Illinois accredited higher educational, vocational, or occupational training institution toward an undergraduate degree or certification. Deadline for applicants is 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018.
The Community Service Block Grant Scholarship is designed to help low-income DeKalb County residents pay for post-secondary educational expenses. Applications are available beginning late January/early February and are due mid-June for the following fall and spring semesters.
This is a competitive scholarship. Not all applicants who are eligible will be chosen as a recipient. The Scholarship Committee of the CSBG Administrative Board will determine the recipients and forward their recommendations to the full board.
