Come out this Saturday for a great night of music, stories, and memories while helping to support great causes at Genoa-Kingston High School! Damon Johnson (from Black Star Riders, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, and Brother Cane) is coming to Genoa-Kingston to help raise funds for Genoa-Kingston High School. Damon will be performing two shows in the same night.
The first show will take place at GKHS Auditorium at 4pm on Saturday, and Damon will play a solo acoustic show. Also performing at this show will be the GKHS Jazz Ensemble, a student rock band, and a teacher rock band. Silent auction and other events will take place to help raise funds. Doors open at 3:30, showtime is 4pm. There may even be a guest guitarist at some point during the night.
Then, come for the electric full band performance at Five Points Pub at 7pm Saturday where Damon and his electric band will be bring the ROCK!! Damon Johnson will perform a singer/songwriter acoustic set performing songs spanning his entire career. You will hear hits from Brother Cane, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, and many more rock classics. In addition, Damon will share stories about his career and musical influences throughout the evening.
Tickets are $25 for General Admission and $75 for VIP. The events are separate events and require separate tickets. Damon Johnson is an American guitarist, vocalist, entertainer and songwriter from Geraldine, Alabama (current resident of Nashville, TN), best known for his work as frontman for Brother Cane, guitarist for Alice Cooper and Thin Lizzy, and currently as guitarist for Black Star Riders. Johnson’s list of other writing and recording credits include John Waite, Stevie Nicks, Carlos Santana, Sammy Hagar, Queensryche, Faith Hill, Skid Row, and The Temptations. He has also been a member of several high profile side projects, including Whiskey Falls and Slave To The System.
Johnson first came on the national music scene as the frontman, guitarist and principal songwriter for Brother Cane. The band released three albums on Virgin Records (selling a cumulative of over 500,000 records) that would yield three #1 singles on rock radio (“Got No Shame,” “And Fools Shine On,” and “I Lie in the Bed I Make”). Brother Cane toured extensively as a headliner and also as a supporting act on tours by Van Halen, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Candlebox. The group disbanded in 1999.
Johnson has also issued two solo acoustic albums: “Dust” (2000) and “Release” (2010), featuring his daughter, Sarah, on two songs and a cover of Alice Cooper’s “Generation Landslide” (featuring Cooper himself on harmonica and some vocals). Johnson and frontman Ricky Warwick are principal songwriters for Black Star Riders, who’s 2013 debut was titled All Hell Breaks Loose. The band’s sophomore album titled The Killer Instinct was released in 2015.
