Winner of Young Artists Competition to Perform with KSO February 24

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra will present its Arthur D. Montzka Memorial Concert on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. There will be a free pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall.

The concert will feature thirteen-year-old cellist William Tan, the 2018 winner of the Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition. For more information about Tan, visit www.kishorchestra.org/competition-winner-2018. He will perform Concerto in E minor for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 85, by Edward Elgar. The KSO will also perform Overture to Ruy Blas, Op. 95, by Felix Mendelssohn; Valse Triste, Op. 44, No. 1, by Jean Sibelius; and Death and Transfiguration, Op. 24, by Richard Strauss.

This concert is supported in part by the Mary E. Stevens Concert Trust. WNIU/WNIJ is the radio station sponsor for the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, featuring KSO concerts on select Monday nights on its Encore program.

Changes in programs, dates, times and location of concerts will be posted on the website. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to the concert. All seats are general admission. Individual ticket prices are $16 for adults, $11 for seniors 62 and over, and a special discounted price of $6 for students (with a valid school i.d. card), and $6 for children under 12.
