LTE: Mason applies for City Manager job

To the Editor:

I, Jim Mason of Mason Properties, am publicly announcing that I am volunteering my services as city manager for at least a year to the city of DeKalb. Expenses incurred will be worked out with the city of DeKalb.

I am asking that people from the community please join me at the next City Council meeting at 6 p.m. April 23 to publicly speak in front of the City Council on the topic.

Please support me and Mason Properties’ efficiencies for the city of DeKalb.

I am looking to make an impression and am asking for at least 500 participants. Public speakers are called to the podium at the beginning of the meetings.

If you are unable to be present at the meeting but have an opinion on this topic, please communicate with your alderpeople and/or the mayor. This will be the solution to all the present confusion in DeKalb.

Meetings are held in the council chambers on the second floor at 200 S. Fourth St.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

  1. I support Jim. He’s a great guy, successful investor and businessman. To all you who think it’s funny, get to know him on a personal level and you’ll know this, if you base it on a business perspective; it isn’t fair treatment to him.

  2. I am a strong “yes” for Jim Mason to become city manager for year, at zero cost, zero pension.

We need to recoup our costs from the payout of the previous city manager.

Jim has first-hand experience on how this city has been run from a management perspective.

    I would take the offer.
