The very first “Cinco de Genoa”, will take place this Saturday, May 5 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.

Several businesses and organizations along Route 23 will be taking part in this festivity throughout the day. The neighborhood “block” party type celebration, will take place in the parking lots from Tobinson’s Ace Hardware to River’s Mexican Cantina.

Activities throughout the day will include; multiple performances by Ballet Folklórico Rayitos del Sol, wagon rides, face painting, artisan booths, music, inflatables, outdoor exhibits, food and much more. Every hour we will be breaking a Piñata filled with great prizes for kids and adults.

And don’t miss Cinco de Mayo in Sycamore, held on both Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6, 2018 in the Bill Johnson Blvd. behind Taxco Restaurant – 223 W. State Street, in downtown Sycamore.

Their Cinco de Mayo festival features entertainment for the whole family! The party gets going with live bands, dancing, a margarita bar, a beer garden, and all the authentic Mexican food you could want. Featured in the Kid’s Corner is a petting zoo, pony rides, games, face painting, a Magic Balloon Man, and Piñatas!
