Summer Walking Tours Return

Mark your calendars! The DeKalb County History Center, as part of the ongoing Historical Walking Tours of Sycamore’s Historic District, will be offering guided walking tours during the summer.

The season will kick off on Sunday, June 3 with the traditional walking tour along Somonauk Street. It will also be offered on August 5. On July 1 and September 2, history and architecture fans will enjoy the new walk that will begin at the DeKalb County Community Foundation at 475 DeKalb Ave, go to the Salem Lutheran Church, and then return back to the depot while exploring amazing information about the homes in between these two locations.

Then on the third Sundays of the month, DCHC will have tours of Main Street and Downtown Sycamore. The Main Street tours will be on June 17 and August 19, meeting at the Court House lawn. The Downtown tours will be on July 15 and September 16 starting at Sycamore Center, 308 W. State Street.

All the tours will be led by Stephan Bigolin. Bigolin is a master tour guide with a strong background in knowledge of DeKalb County history. Tours begin at 1:00 pm and will last about 90 minutes. Cost of the tour is $5 per person, and handouts with information on highlighted locations will be provided.

For details about the specific stops on the tour, or other programs offered by DCHC visit or call 815-895-5762.
