Representative Robert Pritchard (R – IL 70) announced he was stepping down and not seeking re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives (70th District). Citing 14 years in Springfield as being long enough, Bob plans to devote more time to family and serving on the Board of Trustees for Northern Illinois University.
Seeking your vote to replace Pritchard to represent the 70th District to the Illinois House of Representatives, Stoddard said on his campaign website, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Representative Pritchard for his service to the district. Even though we often disagree on policy and specific votes, I’ve always found Bob to be very approachable. He seems to be at every event in the district, and always has time to talk to constituents. I’ve found him responsive – always hearing what I have to say, and personally answering my emails. In short, Bob has been an excellent representative. I hope, given the chance, to be as accessible and responsive as Bob has been.”
Stoddard has lived in northern Illinois for most of his life. After 29 years, he will soon be a retired Geology professor at Northern Illinois University. For the past 10 years, he represented the eastern side of DeKalb on the DeKalb County Board. During that time, he served on various standing committees, chairing the Finance Committee for the past three years.
“I am happy to report that with the help of county staff, and my fellow committee members, we have finally achieved a balanced budget, and we are on a path to rebuild our cash reserves,” said Stoddard. “In my off time, I’m a big baseball fan, enjoy photography, and like to play trivia.”
On July 28, 2018 (6-9pm), join Paul Stoddard (D) for an evening of one of his favorite activities, Trivia Night! Enjoy a great meal at the popular Sorrento’s Restuarant while having fun playing trivia. We look forward to seeing you there.
