Guided Walking Tours of Sycamore’s Historic District


Don’t let the summer pass by without going on one of the DeKalb County History Center’s Guided  Walking Tours featuring Sycamore’s Historic District. All the tours will be led by Stephan Bigolin who has a extensive knowledge of DeKalb County’s history. Tours are scheduled for the first and third Sunday of the month during August and September. 

The Main Street tour will be on August 19, 2018. Enjoy learning about the architecture and local history connected to the homes along Main Street. Stops on the walk will include, the Townsend House (currently the Paper Doll House) and Carriage House (Resource Bank), the Boyton House, the DeKalb County Court House, Library, and Post Office. Meet at the courthouse sign on the northwest corner of State and Main Street. 

On September 2, 2018 the Guided Walking Tour will feature DeKalb Avenue. Meet at the DeKalb County Community Foundation (475 DeKalb Avenue), and walkers will explore as far as the Salem Lutheran Church. Bigolin will share lots of interesting stories connected to the people who made this picturesque street one of the most sought out locations in Sycamore.
