4th St, Lincoln Hwy Intersection to close Oct. 26

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the Union Pacific Railroad crossing at Illinois 23 (Fourth Street) and Illinois 38 (Lincoln Highway) in DeKalb will be closed to all traffic beginning Friday, Oct. 26, weather permitting.

Repairs are expected to last up to four days.

The closure is necessary to allow the Union Pacific Railroad to repair its Main crossing.

To provide a detour that will accommodate truck traffic, the following detour routes will be used:

  • Northbound Illinois 23 traffic will proceed east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road, then north on Peace Road to Barber Greene Road, then west on Barber Greene Road back to Illinois 23.
  • Southbound Illinois 23 traffic will proceed east on Barber Greene Road to Peace Road, then south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive back to Illinois 23.
  • Westbound Illinois 38 traffic will proceed south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive to Illinois 23 (South Fourth Street), then south on Illinois 23 to Harveststore Drive, then west on Harveststore Drive to South First Street; then north on South First Street to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive to Annie Glidden Road, thence north on Annie Glidden Road back to Illinois 38.
  • Eastbound Illinois 38 traffic will proceed south on Annie Glidden Road to Fairview Drive, then east on Fairview Drive to south First Street, then south on south First Street to Harveststore Drive, then east on Harveststore Drive to Illinois 23 (south Fourth Street), then north on Illinois 23 to Fairview Drive, then east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road, then north on Peace Road back to Illinois 38.

Motorists are urged to use caution and expect delays while traveling the detour route. Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
