Mayor Jerry Smith has announced that applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Services Program are now available to agencies for the 2019 Program Year. CDBG funding is federal community development assistance dollars provided annually to the City by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Applications can be obtained on the City’s website under the Community Development Department, on the Community Services page. Organizations interested in submitting new proposals for CDBG funding must first submit a “Letter of Intent” to the Community Development Department by 5:00 p.m. on December 10, 2018.
Local CDBG funded programs administered by the Community Development Department are for new, or for a documented increase in social services provided to target populations. Organizations applying for CDBG funds must serve City residents whose household income is less than 80% of the area median income, and must retain documentation of household income for all program participants.
Projects must be designed to increase public services that promote independent living and self- sufficiency for homeless individuals, families, the elderly and people with disabilities. All projects are required to meet at least one Consolidated Plan Objective and one HUD National Objective. A list of the Consolidated Plan objectives and HUD national objectives are included in the application materials on the City’s website.
