DeKalb 1st Ward Alderman, David Jacobson, recently posted the following statement:
“I will not be filing a petition to retain my seat as the First Ward Alderman of the City of DeKalb. While I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve, especially in the face of the SEVERAL challenges that arose throughout the past 8 years, I am a firm believer in term limits and plan to focus my time and energy on planning for future endeavors elsewhere.
“I have appreciated the support so many have given, the relationships I have made, and the opportunity to be the voice of reason for so many. I can only hope that my successor is ready, willing, and able to face the significant challenges the City continues to face and will be prepared to put the time and energy into representing the only constituency in DeKalb that really matters—the residents and business owners that make DeKalb what it is.”
At the same time, former DeKalb County Clerk Candidate, Carolyn Morris, posted this message on her Facebook page:
“While I await Facebook’s name change approval for this page I want to let you know that I’m running for 1st Ward Alderman for the city of DeKalb. This area includes the blue section pictured below. I’m collecting petition signatures now. Thanks for your support!”
