Concerned About Property Taxes?

News from the Office of Jeff Keicher:

I am concerned about the rising cost of property taxes. I know many folks in our community are as well. High property taxes make it difficult for young people to attain the dream of homeownership, difficult for working families to make ends meet, and difficult for seniors on fixed incomes to afford to stay in their homes in retirement. I am currently serving on the Property Tax Relief Task Force to get a handle on this issue and to propose specific reforms that we can enact next year.

Many homeowners are understandably frustrated right now, however, and are looking for answers. That’s why I am hosting two upcoming seminars: “Understand & Learn How to Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment.” One for residents of DeKalb County, another for residents of Kane County. (Don’t worry, Boone County friends. I will be co-hosting a property tax seminar for you in Belvidere this fall).

For everyone else, please join me at either of the upcoming property tax events in August:

Kane County

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
American Legion Post 630
112 N. Main Street, Elburn, IL

Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong will explain the process for determining your property taxes and how to appeal if you are being over-assessed.

DeKalb County

MONDAY, AUGUST 19
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Sycamore High School – Auditorium
427 Spartan Trail, Sycamore, IL

DeKalb County Chief Assessment Officer Robin Brunschon, DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder Doug Johnson, and DeKalb County Treasurer Christine Johnson will explain the process for determining your property taxes and how to appeal if you are being over-assessed.

Please feel welcome to call my district office at (815) 748-3494 with any questions. I hope to see you in Elburn or Sycamore.

Best Regards,

State Representative Jeff Keicher
